A private visit would include the opportunity to look around the house, with its magnificent collection of period keyboard instruments, its exhibition of prints, pictures and costumes on the theme of the eighteenth century pleasure gardens, as well as the beautiful garden, which is now fully restored. It would also include a demonstration-recital in the main hall, by Richard Burnett or one of his professional musical team on a selection of instruments – harpsichords, chamber organ, barrel organ and a number of early pianos.
These musical tours are extremely entertaining and amusing, and as appealing to the general public as they are to the specialist visitor.
Most days from mid March to Christmas, preferably not Monday. Also special Christmas visits in December.
Visits can be morning, afternoon or evening. We are flexible and try to fit in with the programme of the group as far as possible. Click here for our timing suggestions.
It is recommended that visitors come for about three hours. This would include the demonstration-recital in the main hall, a guided tour of the museum and an opportunity to look round the garden and have time for a meal or some light refreshment. Please allow an additional half hour when booking the Connoisseur Tour which will include a talk on the pleasure gardens personally conducted by owner Katrina Burnett.
