Pictures and Prints at Finchcocks

The Finchcocks Collection has recently become an important resource centre for pictures and prints relating to the London Pleasure Gardens of the eighteenth century. There are over one hundred prints relating to these important "arts centres" including composers, performers, proprietors - even notorious characters! Other important pictures include the Bathurst family portrait by Lancelot Volders, a portrait of an Italian family of musicians by Martin Meyten (1695-1770) and many satirical prints by Gillray, Cruikshank and others.
