Ceremonies
The main hall at Finchocks is the designated Marriage Room. You can view this room set up for a wedding here. It can accomodate up to 100 people seated with a few more standing, but it is also very suitable for more intimate gatherings. The hall has oak panelled walls and a sweeping staircase which is often used for the bride's entrance. The large doors leading on to the back lawn can be opened at the end of the ceremony in fine weather. After the ceremony drinks and refreshments can be served either in the walled garden in fine weater, or in the courtyard adjacent to the house, or in the house itself in poor weather.
The Ceremony usually takes half an hour. The Registrars arrive about 45 mins. beforehand. The usual time for photographs and drinks etc. after the Ceremony is one and a half hours.
Music
This is a special feature of a wedding at Finchcocks. The period keyboard instruments in the collection can be used during the Ceremony. These include a splendid eighteenth century organ and a selection of early pianos. The music in the Ceremony is usually played by the professional musicians associated with Finchcocks, and there is no charge for this. However we can assist you in finding other musicians if required; these would be paid at their normal rate. Download the Musicians for Weddings information sheet here (requires PDF reader)
