A dedicated and appreciative audience packed into Linda's beautiful home near Ashford on a sunny afternoon last week. Linda and her husband warmly welcomed everyone and provided delicous refreshments after the event.
Linda's collection of instruments included:
Spinet by Stephen Keene, London 1705
Clavichord by Johann Adolph Hass, Hamburg 1767
Fortepiano by Anton Walter, Vienna c. 1797
Linda started the concert with a selection of pieces by Purcell which she performed on the spinet. These included "A new Irish tune Lilliburlero" which many of us will remember Dick performing at Finchcocks on the Cawton Aston spinet!
This was followed by pieces by JS Bach, CPE Bach and WF Bach on the clavichord and the sonorities of the instrument were enhanced by the acoustics of the room.
Following a short interval, Linda performed on the Walter fortepiano. The brilliance of her fingerwork was clearly on display in the Haydn sonata which ended the formal programme with a flourish.
We were so grateful to Linda fo kindly hosting, for her flexibility and for sharing with us her beautiful collection and talent.
